BritishAmerican Business Updated Position Papers on Brexit & UK-U.S. Trade

BritishAmerican Business (BAB) released its updated October 2017 position papers on Brexit and UK-U.S. Trade in late November 2017. The documents build on the position papers that were released in spring 2017 and the policy work BAB has undertaken during 2017 with its members and chapters. Director of Policy and Trade, Emanuel Adam, said the updated papers "reflect the fast moving nature of both Brexit and the future UK-US trading relationship and the work BAB was doing with the transatlantic community to provide clarity for business." New survey finds growing pessimism from UK-based foreign businesses over Brexit negotiations

LONDON - 2 November, 2017 - A survey conducted by Ipsos MORI on behalf of 13 foreign Chambers of Commerce in the UK finds the overwhelming majority (82%) of foreign businesses say they are either “not very” or “not at all confident” that a positive outcome for the UK will be achieved from the Brexit negotiations by March 2019. Just one in eight (13%) take an optimistic view on the likely outcome of these negotiations. The survey of member companies also reveals that a majority (55%) thinks the likely effect of Brexit on future investments by their companies in the UK, will be negative. First-ever UK-US Science and Technology Agreement paves the way for closer research collaborations

Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation, Jo Johnson has signed a new agreement that will strengthen research collaboration between the US and the UK.
