Internship Openings in International Trade at the WA State Department of Commerce Seattle Office

The Washington State Department of Commerce's Seattle office is currently recruiting for an intern to assist with preparations for a business delegation to Germany, a European supply-chain seminar, and other duties.

The Washington State Department of Commerce Office of Economic Development and Competitiveness (OEDC) in downtown Seattle recruits volunteer interns on an ongoing basis. Interns should be able to commit to 10–15 volunteer hours per week, for a period of 3 to 6 months.

Ideal candidates will be in their junior or senior year in college with a 3.3 GPA or higher, have recently completed their degree, or be enrolled in a Master’s degree program. Candidates should be responsible, reliable individuals who can work independently and have a genuine interest in international affairs and trade. Initiative, critical thinking, foreign language capabilities, and diversity are valued.

Additional candidate qualities include:

  • Ability to work independently

  • Attention to detail

  • Experience with event organization

  • Strong business writing and communication skills

  • Database or Excel experience

Examples of duties/projects include:

  • International trade mission preparation

  • Business event and seminar support

  • Collaboration with trade development partners

  • Research on companies, industries, and trade-related activities

  • Marketing communications, including editing, writing, electronic content development

  • Client relationship management and projects
